We’ve since have wonderful blogs from the team covering bright ideas like spending lazy summer afternoons getting it just right in Central Park to tucked away dining experiences at cool hangouts like La Esquina.

After a lengthy process of deliberation we awarded 2 beautiful sofa.com armchairs to Jarrod and Michelle for their blogs about how to conduct yourself over an afternoon in Soho and how to sort out a wild annual retreat in Coney Island. Champage included.

We delivered one of the prizes today, a gorgeous Jethou armchair in our House Herringbone fabric and just look what came back:

Looks like the Jethou is right at home in a superbly decorated (and festive!) space. That’s what we like to see…

We are really excited to have the Descartes featured on HGTV’s program “You Live in What?”! Madcap Cottage designed a beautiful room that featured the Descartes two seat sofa in our Cookie house fabric (a sumptuous 100% natural blend of linen and cotton).

The Descartes looks great it the space and we love the way the brightened up the neutral fabric with lively, fun pillows! Check out photos from the set on the DemystifyingDesign blog.

Lots of sofa.com sofas have lovely legs on them. Like the Bluebell, the Descartes and the Leon sofas. If you get the chance to come into our showroom and see for yourself, you’ll notice there are several leg colors available.

For those of you who don’t have the chance to come and see, we thought we’d share this image so you can get an idea of the color choices.

The colors in the image above, from left to right are: unfinished beech, varnished beech, oak, mahogany and black. Most of our sofas come with mahogany legs as the standard color but some come with oak as standard.

So when you place your order with us, we’ll always ask to confirm which you’d prefer! If you check out online, we’ll always call you to confirm the final details.

Turns out it’s our customizable approach to sofas that has them hooked – our sofas are available in over 60 natural fabrics, as well as a range of designer fabrics from the likes of Ralph Lauren, Designers Guild and Colefax & Fowler. InStyle were also rather fond of our no quibbles returns policy, and the fact that if you don’t like your new sofa, we’ll take it back for free! Q: Where did your design inspiration originate?

DP: The subject matter and aesthetic of fine illustration seeped in from a very early age from the illustrations in our story books to my Grandmother’s Toile de Jouy wallpaper. An interest in this type of detail reawakened when we discovered 19^th century wood engravings which would become a significant inspiration for our designs.

Q: Your work is traditionally British in its design and humour, was that always your intention?

JT: We feel very strongly that there needs to be more stories in design. I think it is a bit of a knee jerk reaction to so much mundane homeware. In addition to being practical and attractive we want our products to provoke a curiosity and appeal to a certain sense of humour.

Q: Describe your studio for us

It’s quite calm and ordered thanks to our lovely studio manager who keeps everything running smoothly but there are bursts of noisy banter and unruliness. Screen-printing is very rhythmic, repetitive and precise, a bit like swimming, so it’s a good time to think.

Q: Which of our comfy sofas is your favourite? And which of our photo-shoot items?

We like the Iggy sofa and the Jethou armchair in Mustard Jellies and Cakes.

Q: When sprawled across the sofa, what’s your favourite thing to do – read a good book maybe or watch The Great British Bake Off?

Either, we’re also very excited about the new series of Homeland.

Q: If you had to choose, which is your favourite motif from all your imagery?

The lobster for his Dali-esque appeal, and also because he is particularly satisfying to print. There is something fascinating about the appearance of his whiskery antennae on the cloth.

Q: What do you think it is that connects people to your design imagery, that has made Thornback and Peel the much-loved brand that it is?

There is obviously a nostalgic element to them and since opening the shop in Rugby St, London, we have been having wonderful, bizarre conversations with our customers, hearing about their interpretations and interests in our designs.

Q: And finally, the question that’s on all our lips, which do you prefer – dogs or cats?!

Today, we’re announcing a brand new range of exclusive fabrics – the beautiful result of us teaming up with British printmakers, Thornback & Peel. Available in five fantastic colors, each one features the design duo’s signature quirky motifs and intricate print details: ordered rows of extravagant and brightly-colored jellies and cakes, and playful grey rabbits scampering through a field of cabbages. We love them!

The partnership marks the second year of sofa.com’s Design Lab initiative, which supports home-grown design talent from the UK, and champions some of Britain’s best, newest and up-and-coming designers. Last year, we introduced an eclectic collection of limited edition pieces with Norfolk-based print and textiles experts, St Jude’s; this year’s collaboration, with the innovative Thornback and Peel, promises to be just as inspiring.
